(After I posted I see that the Chicago Bears history page says that they beat Washington 73-0 in 1940. I do not know why the NFL Factbook and Chicago differ. Perhaps the NFL started keeping track after 1940? But one of the sources is wrong.)
It was 73-0 in the NFL Championship of 1940; Chicago over Washington. I am avid reader of stats, especially football records. Also, I had a friend that actually played in that game. He told me that one of the Redskin's best receivers broke his ribs after he nearly caught a touchdown pass. He played in the NFL for ten seasons. He also was a pro softball fast pitch pitcher. His name was Leroy Zimmerman.
